Abstract:
Provided is a label printing device with which it is possible to reduce operator work when replacing continuous paper. In this label printing device (2), a light sensor (22) has a light projector (22T) to project light, and a light receiver (22R) that receives light projected from the light projector (22T). A control unit (24) sets the projected light amount from the light projector (22T) to a projected light amount FL1 in the state in which continuous paper (CP) is not present between the light projector (22T) and the light receiver (22R), sets the projected light amount from the light projector (22T) to a projected light amount FL2 larger than the projected light amount FL1 when continuous paper (CP) is detected, using the projected light amount FL1, to be present between the light projector (22T) and the light receiver (22R), and sets the projected light amount from the light projector (22T) to a projected light amount FL3 that is larger than the projected light amount FL1 and smaller than the projected light amount FL2 when backing paper is detected, using the projected light amount FL2, to be present between the light projector (22T) and the light receiver (22R).
