The present invention relates to Lactobacillus acidophilus KBL409 strain and use thereof. The Lactobacillus acidophilus KBL409 strain (accession number KCTC 13518BP) according to the present invention reduces kidney inflammation and the concentrations of uremic substances in blood, such as blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, p-cresol and the like to protect the kidneys, and exhibits the effects of proteinuria reduction, renal mitochondrial function recovery and renal fibrosis inhibition, and thus can be effectively applied to renal function improvement and the prevention and treatment of renal diseases, including chronic renal disease.
