Abstract:
The present invention reduces the size of a latch device for a vehicle back door. This latch device 10 for vehicle back doors is provided with: a latch/ratchet mechanism that is able to hold a door in a closed state through engagement with a striker S; an actuator mechanism that releases the engagement of the latch/ratchet mechanism with respect to the striker S; a latch housing 11 in which the latch/ratchet mechanism is housed, and which is provided with a path 14 for the striker S; and an actuator housing 12 in which the actuator mechanism is housed. The actuator housing 12 is integrated with the latch housing 11 at an end thereof, and is tilted with respect to the latch housing 11.
