Abstract:
A liquid crystal composition, specifically a nematic liquid crystal composition, and more specifically a liquid crystal composition containing terphenyl and containing cycloalkyl at the terminus, and an application thereof. The liquid crystal composition has low rotational viscosity, a large elastic constant, and large optical anisotropy, and thus has a small ratio of the rotational viscosity to the elastic constant and thinner liquid crystal layer thickness. The use of the liquid crystal composition in a liquid crystal display can significantly increase the response speed and the contrast of the liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal composition has good low-temperature intersolubility, and effectively improves the use temperature range of the display; in addition, a monomer represented by general formula IV is contained, so that a DC residual image can be effectively improved and the display effect can be effectively improved.
