Abstract:
Provided is a method for charging a lithium ion secondary battery that is provided with a least a positive electrode, a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode active material layer that comprises carbon as a negative electrode active material, an electrolyte, and an exterior material that encloses the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the electrolyte, the negative electrode active material layer containing carboxyl methyl cellulose, and the electrolyte containing an additive that can be decomposed using a predetermined voltage. The charging method comprises: provisional charging that includes constant current charging in which charging is performed at a constant current value and constant voltage charging in which charging is performed at a constant voltage after the constant current charging; gas removal in which gas is removed from within the exterior material after the provisional charging; and main charging in which the lithium ion secondary battery is charged after the gas removal. The constant voltage during the constant voltage charging is at least 3.3 V per cell.
