Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a lubricating oil additive with which, during slip control of a lock-up clutch, it is possible, to a high level and in a well-balanced manner, to both ensure a shudder-preventing ability and improve the coefficient of friction μ during slip control; and a lubricating oil composition containing said lubricating oil additive and a lubricating-oil base oil. Provided is a lubricating oil additive containing one or more selected from a triimide compound (X) represented by general formula (1). [In general formula (1), Ra, Rb and Rc each independently represent a C6-30 straight-chain hydrocarbon group or a C6-30 branched-chain hydrocarbon group. x, y and z each independently represent the integer 1 or 2. If there are two of Ra, Rb or Rc, said two may be the same as or different from one another. La, Lb and Lc each independently represent a C1-10 divalent hydrocarbon group.] Also provided is a lubricating oil composition containing the lubricating oil additive and a lubricating-oil base oil.
