Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a lubricating oil composition which exhibits excellent rust preventive properties even though a base oil that contains a polar substance having an action of significantly deteriorating rust preventive properties is contained therein; a method for using this lubricating oil composition; and a method for producing this lubricating oil composition. The problem is solved by a lubricating oil composition which contains a base oil (A) and a rust inhibitor (B), wherein: the base oil (A) has a gas chromatogram that satisfies a specific requirement (α) as determined by gas chromatography; and the rust inhibitor (B) is composed of one or more rust inhibitors that are selected from the group consisting of a first rust inhibitor (B1), a second rust inhibitor (B2), a third rust inhibitor (B3) and a fourth rust inhibitor (B4), while satisfying a specific requirement (β).
