Abstract:
The objective of the invention is to provide a magnetic recording medium having a thin total thickness and allowing for excellent reproduction even after long-term storage. The present technique provides a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium including a magnetic layer, an underlayer, a base layer, and a back layer, wherein the average thickness T of the magnetic recording medium is 5.3 μm or thinner, and the difference between the maximum and the minimum of the viscosity term E" in the temperature range of 0°C to 80°C is 0.18 GPa or less when a dynamic viscoelastic measurement is performed on the magnetic recording medium at a frequency of 10 Hz and a temperature increasing speed of 2°C/minute. In addition, the present technique provides a tape cartridge containing the tape-shaped magnetic recording medium.
