Abstract:
The present invention comprises: a first magnetic field generation unit (1a) which generates a magnetic field that crosses an object (8) to be detected, which is being conveyed on a conveyance path (7); a second magnetic field generation unit (1b) which is disposed on the side opposite the first magnetic field generation unit (1a) with respect to the conveyance path (7) and generates a magnetic field that crosses the object (8) to be detected; and a first magneto-resistive sensor (2a) which is provided between the first magnetic field generation unit (1a) and the conveyance path (7) and outputs, as a change in resistance value, the change in magnetic flux density that occurs due to the object (8) to be detected being conveyed. The first magnetic field generation unit (1a) and the second magnetic field generation unit (1b) are magnetic poles that are different from the magnetic poles facing the conveyance path (7) and are disposed such that the centers thereof are at different positions in the conveyance direction of the object (8) to be detected. The first magneto-resistive sensor (2a) has a first resistor (21a) and a second resistor (22a), and the center of the conveyance-direction interval between the first resistor (21a) and the second resistor (22a) is disposed in a position different from the conveyance-direction center of the first magnetic field generation unit (1a).
