A main hoist system of a rotary drilling rig, and a control method therefor. The main hoist system of a rotary drilling rig comprises a main action loop, a pilot control loop, and a feedback control loop, the main action loop comprising an engine (1), a hydraulic pump (2), a main control valve (4), a balance valve (5), a main hoist motor (6), and fluid tanks (3), the pilot control loop comprising a pilot handle (7), an electromagnetic valve I (8), a pressure relay (10), and the main control valve (4) in the main action loop, the feedback control loop comprising an electromagnetic valve II (9), and the hydraulic pump (2) and the main control valve (4) in the main action loop. When the pilot handle (7) executes a main hoist lifting action, by means of button control, the solenoid valve II (9) is continuously energized, and the solenoid valve I (8) is energized and de-energized according to a predetermined rule, so that a main hoist can be shaken up and down according to a certain rule, easily shaking off clay attached to a drill, increasing construction efficiency.
