Abstract:
Provided is a member having an amorphous carbon membrane that has sufficient antimicrobial properties and contains a high proportion of an sp3 hybridized carbon atom. A member comprising: a substrate; and a membrane that is formed on the substrate, and that contains amorphous carbon and a metal dispersed in the amorphous carbon, wherein the atomic concentration of the metal in the membrane is 1-6 atom%, the amorphous carbon includes carbon atoms forming a bond by an sp2 hybridized orbit and carbon atoms forming a bond by an sp3 hybridized orbit, and the proportion of the number of carbon atoms forming a bond by the sp3 hybridized orbit with respect to the sum of the number of carbon atoms forming a bond by the sp2 hybridized orbit and the number of carbon atoms forming a bond by the sp3 hybridized orbit, is at least 57 atom%.
