Abstract:
Disclosed is a metal grating polarization beam splitter with asymmetric reflection, the beam splitter comprising a substrate (1), a first medium (2), and first metal (3), which form a first grating, wherein a first light absorption material (4.a) is provided on the upper surface or a side face of the first metal (3); a plurality of pieces of a second materials (5.a) are longitudinally arranged along the upper surface of the first metal (3) at equal intervals to form a second grating, and the first light absorption material (4.a) is tightly arranged on the upper surface of the first metal (3) at the position of the interval between two adjacent second materials (5.a); a second light absorption material (5.b) is tightly attached to the upper surface and/or a side face of the second material (5.a); the thickness of the second material (5.a) is greater than the thickness of the first light absorption material (4.a); and a space where adjacent second materials (5.a) are higher than the first light absorption material (4.a) is filled with a second medium (4.b). The beam splitter has a high polarization contrast, a high transmission efficiency, and the characteristic of low reflection on one side/high reflection on one side, in which the low reflection side thereof can overcome the defect of glare caused by the reflection of ambient light by a traditional nano grating polarizer, and the high reflection side thereof can improve the optical efficiency of a display.
