Abstract:
A metal thin band 100 is formed from a metal magnetic material as a principal component, and is formed such that a surface roughness of one major surface 1 is greater than a surface roughness of another major surface 2. The other major surface 2 is formed as a smooth surface with high surface smoothness. The one major surface 1 is surface-processed such that stripe patterns 5 having a recess 3 and a protrusion 4 are successively formed. After a continuous thin band is fabricated by a single-roll liquid quenching method, one major surface of the continuous thin band is subjected to surface processing to form the stripe patterns 5. The metal thin band 100 is wound in a ring shape to obtain a magnetic core or a coil component using the same, such as a common mode choke coil. In this way, it becomes possible to ensure sufficient toughness, and a metal thin band having high mechanical strength and a method of manufacturing the same, a magnetic core in which the metal thin band is used and with which it is possible to achieve a decrease in core size, and a coil component using the magnetic core, such as a common mode choke coil, can be provided.
