Abstract:
A method of detecting a position in which an electronic device is held by an electronic device-holding apparatus, a position detector-carrying electronic device-holding apparatus, and an apparatus for mounting an electronic device on a printed circuit board. In this detecting method, an electronic device-holding position is detected by applying the light to an electronic device (W), which is held by an electronic device-holding apparatus (58, 70), in one direction, and determining the position of a projected image thereof. In the device-holding apparatus, the parts positioned in a predetermined range of space around the center line of at least an adsorption tube (88) in a holder head body (86) consists of a transparent material, and a device-position detector including a projector (146) for projecting light in the direction parallel to the center line of the adsorption tube, and an image pickup apparatus (150) for photographing an image, which is projected by the mentioned light, of the electronic device adsorbed to the adsorption tube are provided. In the device-mounting apparatus, the detection and correction of a device-holding position are done at two intermediate stopping positions between a device-receiving position and a device-mounting position in the path along which a device-holding head (70) is moved.
