Abstract:
Provided is an easy and highly accurate method for estimating the amount of residual slag in a furnace when, after desiliconization or dephosphorization in a converter, slag is removed from the throat while retaining molten iron in the converter by tilting the converter. The method for estimating the amount of residual slag in a furnace comprises: a step A for measuring the slag height in the converter multiple times or continuously after the desiliconization or dephosphorization and prior to starting slag removal; a step B for estimating foam suppression characteristics of the slag in the furnace on the basis of the results measured in step A; and a step C for estimating the amount of residual slag in the furnace on the basis of the suppression characteristics estimated in step B and the converter tilting pattern.
