Abstract:
Provided are a method and an apparatus for molding a pneumatic tire by which, when crimping a bead member onto a band member on a lateral surface of a molding drum, the bead member is crimped at a prescribed position to enable an improvement in tire quality while reducing the number of operating steps. Cylindrical band members 10 are arranged on outer peripheral sides of a molding drum 2 and side parts 6 arranged on both sides in a drum axial direction of the molding drum 2 to expand a diameter of the molding drum 2, and the respective side parts 6 are moved in the drum axial direction to come close to each other and make step parts 10a of the band members 10 parallel to a lateral surface of the molding drum 2. Next, bead members 11 are moved toward the step parts 10a and crimped onto the band members 10 on the lateral surface of the molding drum 2. Then, the bead members 11 are wrapped and turned up at both ends in the drum axial direction of the band members 10 using a turnup mechanism 7 to mold an intermediate green tire Gm.
