A technique of creating a desired pseudo-skin image, a technique of simulating a pseudo-skin image by varying the reflection condition, and a technique of examining a skin by using the pseudo-skin image as a reference image. A pseudo-skin image creating method comprises an S1 step of selecting a 2.0 to 3.0 fractal dimension value and creating a pseudo skin roughness by using a signal representing a fractional Brownian motion having the fractal dimension value, a S2 step of simulating reflection of light from the surface of the pseudo-skin roughness, and a S3 step of displaying the simulation results.
