Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for decomposing a phenolic by-product. More specifically, the method comprises the steps of: supplying a phenolic by-product stream to a decomposition apparatus and thermally decomposing same, collecting active components from an upper discharge stream, and discharging materials having high boiling points from a lower discharge stream; pressurizing a side discharge stream of the decomposition apparatus and the lower discharge stream of the decomposition apparatus; forming a mixed stream by mixing the pressurized side discharge stream of the decomposition apparatus and the pressurized lower discharge stream of the decomposition apparatus; and circulating a portion of the mixed stream to the decomposition apparatus by passing the portion through a re-boiler, and discharging the remainder of the stream.
