The present invention specifically relates to a method and device for identifying a running direction of a train in a single-line electrified railway direct supply traction network. In the present invention, the method mainly comprises: after a direct supply traction network is divided into N sections, assuming that there is a train to be identified running in the direct supply traction network in the nth section, and then by acquiring current components at the head and tail of the section, calculating judgment data to determine the running direction of the train. The beneficial effects of the present invention are: 1) the prior art can only determine the running state of the train in the single-line direct supply traction network, and lacks the capability to identify the running direction of the train; 2) the present invention perfects a traction network train state measurement and control method, and provides an important basis for relay protection cooperation of the train and the single-line direct supply traction network; and 3) the algorithm of the present invention is simple and reliable in principle and convenient to implement, can be directly applied to existing measurement and control systems, and is convenient for engineering practice.
