Abstract:
Provided are a method and a device for manufacturing a glass sheet by cleaving a raw material glass (glass sheet) along a scribe line, the raw material glass having the scribe line on a first principal surface and the raw material glass being placed on a protective sheet such that a second principal surface opposite the first principal surface comes into contact with the protective sheet. The method and the device for manufacturing a glass sheet are capable of stably sucking in and removing glass dust and the like that are generated when cleaving the glass sheet without sucking in and engaging a portion of the protective sheet. A snapping mechanism 10 cleaves a glass sheet G by pressing a second principal surface Gb along a scribe line L through a protective sheet S, and a dust collecting mechanism 30 collects, from a first principal surface Ga side, glass dust that is generated during the cleavage of the glass sheet G. Two types of operation modes can be selected for the dust collecting mechanism 30: a dust collecting mode which has a predetermined suction force for collecting the glass dust, and a standby mode which has a relatively lower suction force compared to the predetermined suction force.
