The present disclosure proposes a method and a device for performing communication by a terminal (UE with multiple USIMs that are in operation at the same time) having multiple USIMs. In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a method and a device for performing communication using multiple USIMs by a terminal, the method comprising the steps of: transmitting, to a base station or a core network control plane entity, indication information which is concurrently registered in one or more networks associated with multiple USIMs so as to indicate multiple USIM capabilities or multiple USIM function operations; receiving, from the base station, gap information associated with timing for a communication operation; and performing at least one operation among RAN-based notification area update (RNAU), tracking area update (TAU), and paging message reception by using the gap information.
