Abstract:

In purifying water, a system with the use of the nitrification effect of aerobic microorganisms and a system with the use of the denitrification effect of anaerobic microorganisms differ from each other in the growth conditions for the microorganisms. Therefore, it is very difficult to efficiently purify water by using a series of devices and large−scaled devices are needed therefor. By using a long and narrow closed watercourse, an area wherein aerobic microorganism exist and another area wherein anaerobic microorganism exist are provided at different parts in a single device so that water can be efficiently purified with the use of a small−sized device.
