Abstract:
Provided is a method for forming and storing round bales which makes removal of net wrap easy, has little effect on livestock even when residue from the net wrap contaminates the feed, causes little change to the cylindrical shape of the round bales, and exhibits a favorable yield of feed material such as pasture grass. Thus, a method having a compression step for compressing into a cylindrical shape feed material which has been harvested or cut to a prescribed length, a formation step for forming a round bale by wrapping the cylindrical feed material with net wrap after performing the compression step, and a storage step for transporting and storing the round bale after performing the formation step, wherein the net wrap is a knit fabric or net fabric obtained by arranging threads comprising 100% cellulose in a lattice pattern, and the openings in the net wrap lattice are arranged in a manner such that the intervals in the warp direction are within the range of 0.5-5.0cm, and the intervals in the weft direction are within the range of 0.5-5.0cm. The method is characterized in that this net wrap is wound two or more times around the outer-circumferential surface of the cylindrical feed material.
