Abstract:
The present invention relates to a design of a low-density parity-check (LDPC) code, which is used in various communication environments including data transmission and data compression, and relates to a method and an apparatus for designing an appropriate LDPC code in accordance with characteristics and requirements of an applied technology using the LDPC code and the quality of a channel link, and using same for error correction encoding/decoding. The method for designing the LDPC code, according to the present invention, is characterized by considering a connected-degree set, diversity of connectivity, and distribution of variable nodes that are connected to a check node on a Tanner graph, which visually displays a parity-check matrix of the LDPC code.
