Abstract:
Provided are a method for grinding a steel billet, a method for manufacturing steel bar, and a method for manufacturing wire rod, with which surface defects can be reduced further while suppressing a deterioration in productivity. This method for grinding a steel billet, method for manufacturing steel bar, and method for manufacturing wire rod include a step, prior to rolling of a steel billet which is long in one direction and which has a rectangular cross sectional shape when cut along a plane perpendicular to said one direction, of grinding a region including a zone of up to at least 26% and at most 30% of the length of one side from a corner portion of the rectangle, along said one side, over the entire length of the steel billet.
