Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a means for inducing the feminization of an eel reliably and highly efficiently while further reducing concerns about safety and environmental issues. [Solution] Provided are: a method for inducing the feminization of an eel, the method comprising feeding an eel feed to the eel during the stage of a glass eel and/or a small eel, wherein the eel feed contains soybean isoflavone in an amount of 0.05% by weight or more in terms of dried content; and others. The feminization of an eel can be induced reliably and highly efficiently by feeding the eel feed to the eel for a predetermined period during the stage where the eel grows from a glass eel to a small eel. In this case, the concerns about safety and environmental issues can be further reduced compared with the case where the feminization is induced using estradiol 17β or the like.
