Abstract:
An inflatable game ball and a method of constructing an inflatable game ball is described. Panel segments are formed from an outer panel portion (200) and an inner panel portion (210) having different sizes, with the inner panel portion (210) being smaller than the outer panel portion (200). The inner panel portion (210) and the outer panel portion (200) are joined so that peripheral edges (204,214) of the inner panel portion (210) and the outer panel portion (200) are aligned. Multiple panel segments are attached together to form a cover (600). Due to the differences in sizes between the inner panel portion (210) and the outer panel portion (200), when an inflatable bladder (110) within an interior of the cover (600) is inflated to a fully inflated condition, variations in the dimensions of the ball caused by stretching of the cover (600) may be reduced or minimized. In one embodiment, an alignment guide (900) can assist with aligning the peripheral edges (204,214) of the panel portions.
