Abstract:
Provided is a method whereby large glass material can be manufactured by containerless levitation. A glass raw material block (13) is positioned on a forming surface (11a) in which a plurality of gas spray holes (12a) is opened. The glass raw material block (13) is heated and melted in a state of the glass raw material block (13) being suspended above the forming surface (11a) by gas being sprayed from the plurality of gas spray holes (12a), and then cooled to obtain glass material.
