Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a ZnO varistor having a high surge energy capacity. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a large-capacity zinc oxide varistor comprising the steps of: mixing additives composed of bismuth oxide powder, antimony oxide powder, iron-group oxide powder, manganese oxide powder and alumina powder; primarily pulverising the mixed additives; mixing a varistor base material composition by mixing zinc oxide powder with the pulverised additives; secondarily pulverising the base material composition; moulding the base material composition; and sintering the moulded object. According to the present invention, a reliable zinc oxide varistor having a high surge energy capacity such as direct strike or high power electro-magnetic pulse (HPEMP) can be manufactured.
