Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an oriented film formed from a polyvinyl alcohol resin that has superior axial orientation for TD (direction of film width) and with which a high stretch ratio for TD can be achieved, and a method for manufacturing a polarizing film exhibiting excellent optical characteristics using the oriented film. Provided is a method for manufacturing an oriented film that includes a stretching step for obtaining an oriented film by stretching a polyvinyl alcohol resin film, said stretching step including a first stretching process step for simultaneously carrying out stretching for TD and shrinkage for MD such that, with the same TD stretch ratio, the MD shrinkage ratio is greater than the MD shrinkage ratio when the polyvinyl alcohol resin film undergoes free end transverse stretching, and a second stretching process step for simultaneously carrying out stretching for TD and shrinkage for MD such that the MD shrinkage ratio is reduced by 0.17 or more. Also provided is a method for manufacturing a polarizing film using the oriented film obtained.
