The present invention relates to a method for operating a smart mattress system comprising an air pillow, whereby the pressures of an air mattress and an air pillow may be adjusted according to the sleep position of a user. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the sleep position of a user is determined, and the pressure of an air mattress and the pressure of an air pillow may be adjusted according to the sleep position of the user, and, according to a body part of the user, the air mattress may be divided into a plurality of sections, and the sleep position of the user may be measured by measuring the pressure of each section.
