Abstract:
It is intended to provide a method of forming stable pleats on a fabric made of 100% by mass of polylactic acid yarn without worsening the properties of the polylactic acid yarn. A fabric made of 100% by mass of polylactic acid yarn is prepared. This fabric may be a fiber cloth such as a woven cloth or a sewed product obtained by sewing a fiber cloth. The sewed product may be a partly sewed product (i.e., a cloth intermediate) or a final product. The fabric is folded and then pressure is applied on the folded fabric under dry-heating. More specifically speaking, the fabric may be passed between a pair of surface-heated rolls under an appropriate linear pressure in the atmosphere. The surface temperature of the rolls is from about 100 to 130°C. Thus, it is possible to obtain a pleated fabric which has stabilized pleats at the folded parts and is usable in pleated clothes, etc.
