Abstract:
The present invention relates to: a method for preparing a cathode active material; a cathode active material prepared by the preparation method; and a cathode for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery, which comprise the cathode active material, the method comprising the steps of: forming a first coating layer on the surface of a lithium transition metal oxide, represented by chemical formula 1, by using a basic aqueous solution containing a coating element M1 (M1 comprises at least one selected from Na and Al); and forming a second coating layer by dry mixing and heat treating the lithium transition metal oxide, having the first coating layer formed thereon, and a material containing a coating element M2 (M2 comprises B).
