Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing a copolymer, wherein the amount of crystals and the amount of vinyl bonds (or a glass transition temperature) can be controlled. The solution for the problem is a method for producing a copolymer, the method being characterized by comprising the step of copolymerizing ethylene and isoprene in the presence of a polymerization catalyst composition containing a half-metallocene cation complex represented by general formula (I) (wherein M represents a lanthanide element, scandium, or yttrium; CpR' represents a substituted cyclopentadienyl group, a substituted indenyl group or a substituted fluorenyl group each having at least two substituents; X represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, a thiolate group, an amide group, a silyl group, or a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; L represents a neutral Lewis base; w represents an integer from 0 to 3; and [B]- represents a non-coordinating anion).
