Abstract:
The present invention provides a method by which a diaminobenzoic acid ester and a benzimidazole derivative are able to be produced more easily with use of lower cost materials. The present invention includes a method for producing a diaminobenzoic acid ester represented by formula (3), wherein an anthranilic acid ester represented by formula (1) and an azidizing agent are brought into contact with each other in the presence of an oxidant and a copper compound, thereby producing an azide form of an anthranilic acid ester, which is represented by formula (2), and the thus-obtained azide form of an anthranilic acid ester is subsequently reduced. (In the formulae, R1 represents an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, an alkoxyalkyl group having 2-12 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7-10 carbon atoms or an alkoxyaralkyl group having 8-11 carbon atoms.)
