Abstract:
This method for producing a heat pipe is characterized by comprising: a step wherein a metal material, which contains Sn or an Sn alloy serving as a first metal and a Cu alloy serving as a second metal, is arranged so as to be in contact with the inner wall of a tubular container; a step wherein the metal material within the container is heated at a temperature less than the melting point of the first metal, so that an intermetallic compound is formed by reacting some of the first metal and some of the second metal contained in the metal material, while having Sn in the first metal contained in the metal material left behind, thereby affixing the metal material to the inner wall of the container by means of the intermetallic compound; a step wherein the container to which the metal material has been affixed is bent; and a step wherein the metal material within the container after the bending process is heated at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the first metal, so that a porous wick structure composed of an intermetallic compound is formed by reacting the unreacted first metal and the unreacted second metal contained in the metal material.
