Abstract:
A method for producing metal nitride according to the present invention is characterized in that, in a method in which a raw material powder containing a metal powder and filling a reaction vessel is ignited in a nitrogen gas atmosphere, and then nitriding combustion heat generated by the nitriding reaction of the metal is propagated throughout the raw material powder so as to produce a nitride of said metal, a heat insulating layer, which is nitrogen permeable and is made of a material that is inert with respect to the nitriding reaction, is formed on the top surface of a layer comprising the raw material powder. Hence, the present invention can provide a method in which the amount of unreacted metal powder is reduced when producing a metal nitride using a combustion synthesis method.
