Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a copolymer of ethylene and an olefin having a polar group, said method using, as a catalyst, a Group 10 metal complex from the periodic table, said complex having a structure represented by formulas (C4) or (C5). (In the formula, Men represents a menthyl group, and Me represents a methyl group.) The method of the present invention makes it possible to configure an olefin polymer having a polar group and having various possible applications to be a high molecular weight body which has hitherto been difficult to produce, and to produce said polymer in a molecular weight range having good moldability.
