Abstract:
This method of producing an R-T-B sintered magnet involves: a step for preparing at least one R-T-B sintered magnet material (R is a rare earth element, T is Fe or Fe and Co); a step for preparing multiple RH diffusion sources having a heavy rare earth element RH (Dy and/or Tb) and 30-80 mass% Fe and with particle diameters of over 53μm but not more than 5600μm; a step for arranging the R-T-B sintered magnet material and the RH diffusion sources in a processing vessel, wherein several of the RH diffusion sources are brought into contact with the R-T-B sintered magnet material; an RH diffusion step for heat-treating in the processing vessel at 800-1000°C in an inert atmosphere under a pressure of 5000 Pa or less the R-T-B sintered magnet material in a state in contact with several RH diffusion sources, the RH diffusion sources in contact with the R-T-B sintered magnet material, and the RH diffusion sources not in contact therewith; and a separation step for separating the RH diffusion sources from the R-T-B sintered magnet material.
