Abstract:
A method for recovering manganese from waste dry-cell batteries according to the present invention includes the following steps carried out in the following order: a waste dry-cell battery sorting step; a crushing and sifting step for obtaining a particulate from the waste dry-cell battery; a particulate heat treating step; an acid leaching step for obtaining from the heat-treated particulate a leachate containing Mn, Zn, and Fe ions; a solid-liquid separation step for separating the leachate; and a manganese extraction step for obtaining a manganese-ion-containing solution from the leachate. The manganese extraction step includes a prescribed zinc removal step and iron removal step, not necessarily in that order.
