Abstract:
Provided are a method for reducing the molecular weight of an organic substance, by which a large amount of generated gas is obtained, and a system for reducing the molecular weight of an organic substance, which is used in the method. The method for reducing the molecular weight of an organic substance comprises supplying a gasifying agent into a fluidized bed reaction furnace accommodating a fluidization medium to form a fluidized bed of the fluidization medium in the fluidized bed reaction furnace, supplying the organic substance to the fluidized bed, and reacting the organic substance with the gasifying agent, whereby the organic substance is modified so that the molecular weight of the organic substance is reduced, wherein the carbon dioxide content of the gasifying agent is 30% by volume or more.
