Abstract:
This disclosure relates to a method for reducing solubilized copper concentration in a lubricating oil in a wind turbine gearbox. The method includes: using as the lubricating oil a sulfur containing formulated oil, the formulated oil comprising: one or more lubricating oil base stocks as a major component; and one or more lubricating oil additives, as a minor component; adding a composition including at least one Mannich based product to the lubricating oil; and blending the lubricating oil and the composition. Solubilized copper is present in the lubricating oil. The at least one Mannich based product is present in the lubricating oil in an amount sufficient to reduce solubilized copper concentration in the lubricating oil. This disclosure also provides a lubricating oil for use in wind turbine gearboxes, a method for improving deposit control in wind turbine gearboxes lubricated with a lubricating oil, and a composition for use with a lubricating oil in wind turbine gearboxes.
