Abstract:
It is intended to develop a method of effectively synthesizing a glycolipid that has never been established so far. Thus, a method for synthesizing a glycolipid is provided. This method comprises the following steps: (a) the step wherein a protected sugar is reacted with a protected lipid amide under such conditions as allowing the binding of the protected sugar to the protected lipid amide to thereby form a sugar-lipid amide acceptor precursor; (b) the step wherein this sugar-lipid amide acceptor precursor is reacted under such conditions as allowing the progress of an intramolecular condensation in the sugar-lipid amide acceptor precursor to thereby form a sugar-lipid amide acceptor; (c) the step wherein this sugar-lipid amide acceptor is reacted with a protected sugar chain donor under such conditions as allowing the linkage of the sugar-lipid amide acceptor to the protected sugar chain donor to thereby form a protected glycolipid; and (d) the step wherein the protected glycolipid is subjected to a deprotecting reaction under such conditions as allowing the deprotecting of the protected sugar chain donor to thereby form a glycolipid.
