Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for synthesizing vortioxetine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The process is accomplished by using a catalytic system consisting of a copper salt and an organic ligand. The catalytic system can facilitate formation of C-N and C-S bonds in an one-pot process, thereby providing an efficient, simple and industrially feasible approach for synthesizing vortioxetine.
