Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a sheet molding compound, the method being characterized by including a step for measuring the bulkiness of a carbon fiber aggregate before an impregnation step for impregnating the carbon fiber aggregate with a resin composition. In this method for producing a sheet molding compound, a sheet molding compound having excellent carbon fiber impregnation properties is obtained irrespective of the carbon fiber content, and thus the sheet molding compound can be suitably used for an exterior, a structure, or the like, such as one of an automobile member, a railway vehicle member, an aerospace plane member, a marine vessel member, a housing facility member, a sport member, a light vehicle member, a construction and civil engineering member, and OA equipment.
