Abstract:
The present invention address the problem of providing a metal surface mirror-forming coating method which does not require a vacuum device, plating equipment such as heating equipment and ultrasound equipment, or a vacuum vapor deposition device, and with which the surface of a metallic particle layer coated on to a substrate surface can be made into a surface having the same appearance as that of metal plating which is so reflective that such plating could be mistaken for a mirror, even in a workshop in a space where dust floats in the air, and in a state in which a component serving as a base material on which the metallic particle layer is to be formed can be left attached without being removed. This problem can be solved by a metal surface mirror-forming coating method comprising a metallic particle layer formation step for forming, with a buff, a metallic particle layer the surface of which is a mirror, the method including: adhering the metallic particles to the surface of a base material to form the metallic particle layer by, while a coating composition that contains flat-shaped, flat plate-shaped, or spherical-shaped metallic particles and does not contain a polishing agent is coated, or after it has been coated, on to the surface of the base material, moving the buff with respect to the coating composition on the surface of the base material while performing a spreading operation and a pressing operation with the buff.
