Description:
A mobile payment system

The subject of the invention is a mobile payment system operating based on converting money into settlement system points.

Patent description P.401566 discloses a method and system for authorizing payments.

A method and system of authorizing payments made by the user using a mobile device (MD) and the seller using a terminal (POS) for handling payment cards, consisting in entering the data of the payment card and the transaction amount (AMN) into the terminal (POS), and subsequently sending them along with the ID of the terminal (POS_ID1) to the accounting center (ACH), which, based on the payment card data (PCD), generates an authorizing query to the payment institution (PSP). At the same time, the payer enters the ID of the terminal (POSJD2) on the mobile device (MD), which, along with the payer’s ID (U_ID) is sent to the payment institution (PSP), which in turn in response sends back to the payer the current data of the transaction, which the payer accepts on his/her mobile device (MD). Having received complete information from the seller and the payer, the payment institution (PSP) sends an authorizing query to the financial institution (Fl) which holds the payer’s account.

P.406126 The subject of the invention is a method of making payments for goods or services by means of mobile devices using messages (LISSD).

One technical problem with settlements of purchase transactions is the size of the entities participating in the transaction and the complexity of promotional or loyalty settlements that the seller wants to make with the client.

The invention solves this problem by the operator’s converting money into settlement system points.

The system of mobile payments according to the invention is characteristic in that the Buyer sends monies from his/her bank account to the bank account of the Operator of the system, which sends the monies to the Seller’s bank account, while giving the Buyer access to the number of points in the system corresponding to the monies paid, which points the Buyer may use to settle the purchase transaction with the given Seller by authorizing the purchase transaction using a mobile device.

Alternatively, the Seller or a third entity may credit a number of points to the Buyer in the system.

Alternatively, the Seller or a third entity may send commercial information to the Buyer using the application for settlements in the system.

Favourably, the Seller is able to send to the Buyer a receipt or another type of confirmation of the transaction by means of the application for settlements in the system.

The proposed settlements system improves the safety of the purchase transaction by eliminating the go-betweens in the transaction, which have access to the Buyer’s or Seller’s bank account in connection with making the transaction. Moreover, the monies for settlement of any given transaction are already in the Seller’s account at the moment of making the purchase transaction, which improves the safety of the transaction, in particular if the Buyer is making the purchase based on automated systems without any contact with the Seller’s personnel.

Moreover, using separate points for making settlements makes it possible to ..charge up” the Buyer’s account with points from loyalty programs for making a specific purchase or using pre-paid cards or gift cards. The Buyer’s account may also be made available to other persons e.g. to family members or by transferring points amongst the users of the system.

The embodiments described above do not exhaust all the possibilities of using the invention.
