Abstract:
The present technology relates to a monitoring system, a monitoring sensor device, a monitoring method, and a program for making it possible to detect a failure in IR illumination on the basis of a captured image. According to an aspect of the present technology, a monitoring sensor device is provided with: an infrared light irradiation unit which irradiates an area of possible presence of an object to be monitored with infrared light; an image capture unit which has sensitivity to infrared light and which captures an image of the area of possible presence of the object to be monitored; a detection unit which, on the basis of the captured image, detects a state of the object to be monitored; a first transmission control unit which controls the presence or absence of execution of a first transmission operation for transmitting a detection result to another device; a second transmission control unit which controls the presence or absence of execution of a second transmission operation for transmitting the captured image to the other device; and a failure detection unit which, in a state in which the execution of the second transmission operation is stopped by the second transmission control unit, detects a failure in the infrared light irradiation unit on the basis of a comparison result obtained by comparing a plurality of captured images. The present technology may be applied in a monitoring system for installation in senior care homes and the like.
