Provided is a monitoring system 1 that includes a first monitoring device 11 and a second monitoring device 12. The first monitoring device 11 includes a first acquisition unit 21 that acquires state information indicating the state of an object to be monitored, and a second acquisition unit 22 that acquires factor information indicating factors of the state. The first monitoring device 11 includes a first transmission unit 25 that transmits the state information to the second monitoring device 12, a second transmission unit 26 that transmits the factor information to the second monitoring device 12, and a first reception unit 27 that receives information from the second monitoring device 12. The second monitoring device 12 includes: a second reception unit 32 that receives the information transmitted from each of the first and second transmission units 25, 26; a second storage unit 33 that stores the information received by the second reception unit 32; and a third transmission unit 34. When the second reception unit 32 receives the state information, the third transmission unit 34 transmits, to the first reception unit 27, a request signal for requesting the factor information.
