Description:
A MOUNTING DEVICE FOR THE MOUNTING OF A SHELF AND A WALL SYSTEM USING SAID MOUNTING DEVICE The present invention relates to a mounting device for the mounting of a shelf, said device is mountable on an substantively vertical back support, such as a wall, and comprises one or more from the support protruding lower supporting elements where upon a shelf can be placed.

For the mounting of shelves for e. g. the accommodation of hi-fi equipment, it is known to use to or more wall fixtures, such as shelf holders that are secured to the wall by treated screws at the same height and where upon a shelf is laid. The to shelf holders are secured to the wall independently.

Such known shelf supporting holders often takes up a lot of space around the shelf.

This limits the amount of the shelf that can be used since the fittings extend essentially as long out from the wall as the width of the shelf.

However, by the present invention it is realised that these conditions can be improved considerably by a mounting device that comprises a suspension element having at least two upper supporting elements that relative to the lower supporting element extends significantly less out from the back support and that is placed closer to the side edges of the device than the lower supporting element.

Hereby a self-supporting locking effect of the shelf is achieved where the at least one lower supporting element carries the shelf and its load and that the at least two upper supporting elements prevents the rotation of the shelf both the plane of the back support and the thereto perpendicular plane. A mounting device according to the invention is hereby achieved that is particularly simple and light in its structure and hardly prevents the use of the shelf space making it suitable and attractive for shelving of hi-fi equipment, such a CD-payer, an amplifier, a tuner, etc.

Further preferred embodiments including designs of the invention are described in the dependent claims 2 to 8.

By making use of the principle according to the invention, it is possible to provide particularly attractive designs of the mounting device.

In the following the invention is described in more detail under reference to the accompanying drawings, where fig. 1 shows and example of a wall mounted system with a mounting device, a shelf and one hi-fi unit, fig. 2 shows the same in a front view, fig. 3 shows the same in a side view, fig. 4 shows a wall mounted system with a mounting device with a cd-case, a shelf and two hi-fi units, fig. 5 shows the same in a front view, and fig. 6 shows the same in a side view.

In the figures 1-34 a first embodiment of a mounting device and a wall system according to the invention is shown. The mounting device comprises a plate-like suspension element 1 for wall mounting. This wall element 1 is provided with a lower supporting element 3 that, as shown in the figures 2 and 3, extend out from the wall and in underneath the central area of the shelf 2. The wall element 1 is moreover provided with upper supporting elements 4,5, that are arranged preferably in the edge region of the suspension element 1 with a distance from each other on each side of the lower supporting element 3. Hereby the shelf 2 is prevented from tilting around the lower supporting element 3. The lower supporting element 3 extends considerably longer out from the wall than the upper supporting elements 4,5, but less than half of the width of the shelf 2. The shelf 2 is clamped to the suspension element 1 by its own weight. The arrangement of the load, such as a hi-fi unit 6, on the shelf 2 improves the self-locking or self clamping effect further, since the mass of the unit contributes to the clamping of the shelf 2 in the supporting points 3,4,5 of the wall element 1.

The figures 4 to 6 show a second embodiment of a wall system according to the invention. The wall element 1 is in this second embodiment provided with two lower supporting elements 3 that are arranged as shown in particular in figure 5. Hereby, it is possible for obtain a stabile support of a relatively long shelf that can accommodate two or more hi-fi units 6 beside each other, as shown in figure 4.

Underneath the lower supporting elements 3 the suspension element 1 is provided with a box-shaped casing that in a preferred is designed so as to accommodate standard size CD-cassettes in an upright position for storage of CD's in the casing. Alternatively, the casing could be dimensioned to accommodate mini-discs or other recording carriers.

By the invention, it is realised that this casing could also be arranged in the smaller wall system according to the first embodiment of the invention. The wall element 1 in the displayed embodiments is triangular in shape, but could in principle take on any shape.

The wall system, i. e. the suspension element 1, the shelf 2 and/or the casing 7 can be make in an elastomeric material, wood and/or metal, such as steel with or without a surface treatment.

Moreover it is realised that the invention can be used not only for wall mounting, but also for the suspension of shelves in a floor resting rack system, bookcase or the like.
